Our family is raising money for the Skraban-Deardorff Syndrome (SKDEAS) Foundation in honor of Cecilia and others affected by this diagnosis. The SKDEAS Foundation has been formed by parents and medical professionals worldwide to foster relationships and organize resources to benefit individuals living with Skraban-Deardorff syndrome. The foundation's goal is to raise funds for research, promote public awareness, and align scientists, patients, parents, clinicians, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies and other organizations dedicated to treating people with Skraban-Deardorff syndrome and related diseases.

About Team Ceci

Cecilia, affectionately known as Ceci, is a kind and loving ten year old living in Wisconsin. At the age of six, she was diagnosed with Skraban-Deardorff syndrome, a rare genetic disorder often characterized by intellectual disability, speech and language challenges, seizures, and more. While this diagnosis impacts Ceci every moment of every day, she lives life with the biggest smile on her face and spreads joy to everyone she meets.

Connecting with our growing SKDEAS community and the SKDEAS Foundation has been life-changing for our family. We are incredibly grateful for the many valuable opportunities these connections have given us, including:

  • learning best practices from professionals and other caregivers all across the world to help Ceci to thrive
  • staying up-to-date on a wide variety of research being performed to better understand and treat Skraban-Deardorff syndrome
  • access to quality resources provided by the SKDEAS Foundation and its partner organizations
  • creating deep, lasting friendships with other SKDEAS families ♥
During this annual time of giving, our family asks that you consider contributing toward the SKDEAS Foundation, giving Ceci and all of her SKDEAS friends the brightest future possible. We appreciate your support!

With love and gratitude,
The Gerst Family
